Message from the President

Congrats to Bruce Smith- winner of $2500 Rotary raffle.

From the Naval Academy to the MLB

Next Thursday, our Rotary Club is honored to welcome Mitch Harris, a distinguished former Major League Baseball pitcher and U.S. Navy veteran, as our guest speaker. Mitch’s unique journey from the Naval Academy to the MLB offers inspiring insights into dedication and resilience.

Mitch Harris began his baseball career at the U.S. Naval Academy, where he earned accolades such as the Baseball America Third-Team All-American in 2007.  After graduating in 2008, he served in the U.S. Navy for nearly five years, achieving the rank of Lieutenant and participating in missions across the globe.  Upon completing his service, Mitch made history by debuting with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2015, becoming the first Naval Academy graduate to appear in a Major League Baseball game since 1921.

Transitioning to Wealth Management

Following his baseball career, Mitch transitioned to wealth management, currently serving as a Sports & Entertainment Accredited Wealth Management Advisor™ with Merrill Lynch in Atlanta, Georgia. His commitment to excellence continues to be recognized, including being named in Forbes’ “Best-in-State Wealth Management Teams.”

Join Us for an Inspiring Talk

Mitch’s experiences in military service, professional sports, and finance provide a wealth of knowledge and inspiration. We look forward to his insights at our upcoming meeting.

Volunteer to Sweep the Hooch!

Sweep the Hooch Saturday March 22,2025

Once again Roswell Rotary Club will take a leadership role in this year’s 15th annual Sweep the Hooch River Cleanup. All Rotarians and family are welcome to join in. We need walkers, waders and paddlers to clean up our dedicated area along the river and Riverside Road, including the roads, trails, riverbank and river from Don White Park to Eves Road. This is a great family outing and a way to demonstrate to out youth the importance of maintaining a clean and litter free river and parks system. Wear old clothes and be prepared to get a little muddy. Gloves and collection bags will be provided.

We will meet at Dutch and Kathy Earle’s house, 9030 Bluffview Trace 30076, at 8:30 for registration and to pick up supplies. The event will start at 9 AM and we should be finished before Noon.

For planning purposes, please text Dutch if you will be joining, 770.403.0755, although last minute walk- ins are welcome!

Roswell Relays HUGE Success

Roswell Relays Field & Parking Crews…. THANK you!  We couldn’t have done it without you.  Michael Curling & James Stone put in over 20,000 steps each to make sure that the posts were staffed and the staff was fed/hydrated.

From those who showed up because they had time to those who showed up because they signed up, thank you.

>  Shout out to Past President Don Howard who brought the Relays to Roswell Rotary in 1997 when the Roswell Jaycees folded working Gate at Turn 2…..

>  To 1st shifters Lee Dodson & Michael Hernandez who have been able to get the busses parked to perfection for over 10 years so they can get out easily.

>  To Bruce Smith who ran RRR for 10+ years glad to show up to work the gate at Turn 1 while sharing his RRR stories & pictures of the grandbaby’s b’day.

>. To brand new … red-badge member Queen Brown who made a commitment to show up just by finding a parking spot then worked 2 hours… got a power drink and earned her Bunny Shirt.

Thank you each for your flexibility… love of watching the competition and catching the magic of the Roswell Relays.
