President's Message Service Above Self: Lessons from Heisman Winner Danny Wuerffel
This past week, our club had the honor of hearing from Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel, whose message was as powerful off the field as his play was on it. Danny reminded us that true greatness isn’t measured in touchdowns, trophies, or titles—it’s measured in how we live for others. Danny shared three themes that struck at the very heart of Rotary’s mission: 1. “Your life is not about you.” He challenged us to think beyond our own wants and needs, reminding us that meaning comes from pouring ourselves into others. 2. “You’re not that important—but every person is important.” In a world that often elevates ego, Danny reminded us that humility is the doorway to impact. When we recognize the worth in every person, we live out the spirit of service. 3. “Whatever blessing is poured into us should be shared with others.” Whether it’s time, talent, or treasure, Danny urged us to see blessings not as possessions to be kept but as gifts to be shared. Danny’s message echoed the words of his own coach, Steve Spurrier, who once said of him: “Danny Wuerffel is the most unselfish player I’ve ever coached. He’s always put the team ahead of himself.” That spirit of humility and service—putting others first—is exactly what Danny challenged us to embrace today. Rotary has always stood for this principle. Paul Harris, Rotary’s founder, once said: “Whatever Rotary may mean to us, to the world it will be known by the results it achieves.” Danny’s message resonates with this truth—our impact is measured not by what we keep, but by what we give. As we carry Danny’s inspiring message into the week ahead, we look toward our annual Golf, Tennis, and Pickleball Tournament fundraiser. This event is more than just competition—it’s our chance to live out the Rotary motto of Service Above Self. The funds raised will go directly toward supporting local charities and helping those in need right here in our community. And that is why every Rotarian’s role matters. Whether you’re giving, volunteering, or inviting others to donate, your participation is what makes this our biggest fundraiser of the year. Together, we can ensure this tournament not only succeeds but makes a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve. My call to action this week is another reminder of the importance that every one of us gets involved and gives of their resources to help those who have far less. We can do it. What a great day it would be to see 100% of Roswell Rotary’s membership step up and say with a united voice that we will make difference today. We will put service above self! No excuses. No waiting. The time to act is now. Service Above Self demands nothing less. To that end, let us take Danny’s reminder to heart: Life is not about us—it’s about what we do for others. Let’s put those words into action. Together, let’s ensure that the blessings poured into our club overflow into the lives of those who need them most. Sic Vos Non Vobis,

Board Member Spotlight Angela Medley- Youth Services Chair
Joining Rotary in 2022, Angela Medley charged into taking on the Red Badge program, next chairing the Rotary Scholarship Committee and now chairing Youth Services. Following graduation from Georgia tech, she received a Master’s in Instructional Technology from Kennesaw State University, then worked as Director of Professional Development and Training for the largest virtual school in Georgia. After eight years in education, Angela followed her passion for real estate, joining Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby’s International Realty. Married for 25+ years, Angela and Brian were college sweethearts at Georgia Tech. Two of their three children are also GT grads, their third about to enter there soon. The two have served on the GT Parent Board as well as having undertaken a Sunday school class for young married couples in their church. Helping to bring quality childcare to Roswell, Angela has served on the board of the Children’s Development Academy. As a global real estate advisor, Angela stays abreast of new developments in the Atlanta area and is a knowledge base for those relocating to the area. Her connections promise a great opportunity for her clients to become integrated into the community. Feeling that all great communities start within the home, she works diligently to find that perfect fit for her clients, offering an unprecedented level of service that begins with attentive listening to their needs and desires. A focus on data analysis and research allows Angela to continuously stay in touch with the ever-changing market and she receives a plethora of referrals and recommendations from her clients in Roswell, Alpharetta, Milton, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Midtown and Buckhead. Interesting fact: Having once lived on a 10-acre farm, Angela raised alpacas and chickens, grew a garden on a plot of land, canning vegetables upon harvest. As a result, while she is very involved in making and growing food from organic sources, she is also deeply committed to focusing her efforts on environmental concerns, the overuse of plastics, especially how that affects our oceans and water sources.
