Youth Day has been a long-standing tradition in Roswell that began in 1950 when a group of parents decided to sponsor a parade and a day of activities to honor the youth of the city.In 1951, Mayor Ford Rucker proclaimed the second Saturday in October as “Roswell Youth Day,” and each year the tradition grows stronger.

Roswell Rotary has long been a major supporter of what is deemed as everyone’s favorite day in Roswell. Each year our Interact students, teacher’s, liaisons and Roswell Rotarians work diligently to produce a float that represents the various projects of our clubs. This year’s parade theme was “Just Move”. Roswell Rotary Interact Club float was titled “Moved to Serve,” which represented many of the clubs projects and utilized Interacts principal of developing leadership skills at a young age while discovering the power of Service Above Self.

On October 14^th, under beautiful blue skies the parade wound down Mimosa Boulevard to Woodstock Road. More than one hundred Interact students participated by volunteering their time with float design, construction and walking the parade. Over three hundred pounds of candy were tossed to the thousands of young children and parents who lined the streets. Smiles were abundant and friendships grew strong. Roswell Rotary Club’s Interact float won first place in the Civic Clubs Division for our creativity and message.
