First Quarter FLEW!
President's Message

Somebody check the calendar. We're already a quarter of the way through the Rotary year, and this club has barely stopped moving. We kicked off at the Installation Party and then got to work. We volunteered at HomeStretch Summer Enrichment, showed up at Alive in Roswell, packed backpacks for Huskies Helping Huskies, and made the rounds at The Big Connect. At three local breweries we put together cleaning baskets for seniors, birdhouses for Farm Day, and snack packs for The Drake House. We gave blood and honored Officer Jeremy Labonte at his memorial 5K. We swung, served, and dinked our way through the Golf, Tennis & Pickleball Tournament, our biggest fundraiser of the year. We worked the Roswell Arts Festival, hauled trash out of the Chattahoochee, relaxed at Lake Day, and got together at Women in Rotary events. And yes, we won the Youth Day Parade alongside our Interact clubs and young people (not that anyone's counting). Our Interact clubs are gearing up for the year, President-Elect Katie is hosting our GRSP student, Evelina, and Past President Lynne Lindsay is preparing to welcome Carlotta, our Rotary Youth Exchange student, into her home for the next several months. Pretty good for three months.

Last week at the North Fulton Rotary Council meeting, District Governor Cynthia Edwards gave us a preview of the District Conference. The other clubs' leaders came with reports on their own projects, too. PDG and District 6900 Foundation Chair Bob Hagan challenged every club to plan its own b event, and the ideas were great: Alpharetta's Oyster Fest for Polio, a Pups for Polio dog park event, and our own b. Oysters, dogs, and beanbags may not look like a global health campaign. But every one of them pushes toward the same goal Rotarians around the world have been chasing for decades, and it was a good reminder that our club is part of something much bigger. That's the heart of this year's theme, Strengthening Connections, and it's already showing up in shared work. We're partnering with North Fulton Rotary on the October 24 Gala benefiting HomeStretch and Arete, continuing our collaboration with them on the Blood Drive, and with Alpharetta Rotary and FODAC on a medical equipment collection. When clubs work together, we get more done than any of us could alone. So grab your gala attire, clean out that closet, and warm up your cornhole arm. We're just getting started.

Yours in Service,

Leslie
